About Us

At Hissy Fits we are bored of being underestimated, underappreciated and over simplified. As a queer and disabled led company, this collaboration is unified by shared humour, shared tears and shared frustrations. If you want to see cis men in tights perform Hamlet, this is probably the wrong place for you. But.. if you want to see loud femmes being gross, hysterical and unapologetic, we think you're just the right people for us.

This image is of two performers in a theatre. On the left is Roshi, a person with dark brown hair and dark eyes who is sitting in a chair whilst looking at Adeline, the other performer.
Adeline, a woman with light brown hair is standing, looking at a piece of paper and speaking. The walls behind are black and there is a slight projected image of the captions for the scene they are doing.

Roisin Cowen

Co Artistic Director

Roisin Cowen (she/they)  is a multidisciplinary artist, director, collaborator with Scatter collective and devised theatre maker based in London. After studying English and Drama at an Undergraduate level, they trained for a Masters in Advanced Theatre Practice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She has most recently been the sound artist for SoapBox theatre’s Strange Contagions and performed original music at the Almeida’s Queer Cabaret: Under The Paper Moon. They are especially interested in works of art or music that blend/bend genres, celebrate unity, mental well-being, the environment, queerness and neurodivergence. As a queer, neurodivergent artist, they aim to uphold inclusivity and equal access in creative spaces. They are usually found down the pub rambling to someone about the dangers of global capitalism.
